Legally in the US under FLSA a minor 14 or older may work in an:

Office,

Grocery store,

Retail store,

Restaurant,

Movie Theater,

Baseball Park,

Amusement park, or

Gasoline service station

BUT...due to the high the unemployment rate at this time it is very difficult for minors to get a job.........the jobs that use to be held by teens and retirees are now being taken by adults trying to support their families.........

Fast-food and grocery stores are willing and able to train new employees but........................

Minors tend to have many issues that affect their ability to work such as tardiness, absenteeism, and numerous schedule requests, poor work-ethic etcetera.

I am NOT implying you will have those issues but the fact that many your age do makes it more difficult for you to get an opportunity to prove your worth.

Most businesses are individually owned and operated so it is the owners policy and past experience with minors that will determine if they will hire you. Apply everywhere you can, the worse that can happen is they don't hire you.

you can do "casual labor" (work for an individual in their home) such as

yard-work,

pet-sitting,

baby-sitting,

tutoring,

running errands,

house-cleaning, etcetera...

Im guessing 16 like every other place. just walk in and ask. = ]

You must be 16. with a work permit. You can do other jobs and get paid maybe like babysitting, news paper boy or girl and get paid still but you'll get paid monthly and not as much. It basicly depends where you live though everywhere in the US probably has different laws about minors working i know down here in Hawaii it used to be 15 and a half now it's 16. It's best to go google for a work permit in louisiana and it'll tell you the age you need to be to work in fast food places but like the 1st post said it's probably 16 years of age.

I think you have to be 16 and have a work permit.

But I strongly suggest that you call or talk to someone in person about their requirements regarding age.

You never know unless you ask.

I know Chick-fil-la hires people younger than 16. But if you are younger than 16 and they hire you, there will be restrictions on how many hours you can work.
