Help. Should I quit my job?

Category: Food Service

Woohoo!Woohoo!

I'm 16, and in March this year I started a waitressing job. Basically, I hate it. I have been doing two or three shifts every weekend, and got paid twice. I don't like some of the people who I work with, and my boss is very very rude, and maybe it's just because I've never had a job before, but he is horrible. I live a long way from this pub, and my mum has to pick me up at about 11:30 at night, as the taxi would be too expensive and there is no buses, my mum is not happy. I get paid minimum wage however the boss has messed it up twice and forgot to pay me for ages. Am I just being mardy, or should I quit? Also, is it too soon to quit? And what do I do to quit?

Thanks in advance.

I think you could find something better for you. Try looking for a job whilst in the current one. Then, when you find a new one, leave the current one.

If you feel you are starting to feel miserable and depressed in your current job, don't wait for a new one. Leave your job now as you need all your good vibes to get a new job.

If money could be a problem, stick to it and look for motivation elsewhere (friends, family, partner). Your life could be so much better with a better job.

I do not know where you are, but I am surprised that the law in your location allows minors to work in a pub.

If you are not getting paid and are being treated rudely, find a position closer to home, then quit. Do so by personally speaking to your boss and telling him you are quitting.

If he's not paying you properly then seek legal advice, visit your local Citizens advice. As you are only 16, why not apply to work somewhere like McDonald's, KFC, Burger King etc.

What he is doing is illegal. So basically I'd personally just quit. Why work and not get paid? Not worth it! He's just taken advantage of you
