First time I'm applying for a job can anyone help me out here?:)?

I'm really keen to work at a restaurant near by on the coming school holidays but I don't know if they want any workers ( I just want to work there out of my own will lol), so I'm thinking it would be weird if I just called and applied, but I'm guessing since its a restaurant they want all the waitresses they can get?:/ Anyhow, if I call up and ask what should I start off with and how? Maybe something like 'Hi my names is ________ I am very keen to work at your restaurant...' and add a few more things? Oh and would it be awkward if I just randomly apply?:/

It's not annoying. But you need to go IN PERSON, dressed nicely, and ask the manager if they need workers/employees. You'll never get a job over the phone.
