First job - Working at Safeway ?

I am 14 and am considering getting a job at Safeway because my Auntie is like the big boss there .... so im pretty much garanteed a job, but i was wondering if anyone works at safeway? whats it like ? ( i would be casheir person) is it really hard ? what are the hours ? and what does your schedual look like ? is it a good first job ?

OMG your lucky! i've been trying to get a job there every year for 4 years now its not easy to get hired their but since some of the employees at the safeway near my house are my friends they tell me this stuff so. pay rate is $8.25, you always start out as bag boy. not cashier, after a year you get a promotion and you choose to work as cashier or in the deli and get a raise. each staff is required to work up to 25 hours a week minimum, and it comes with benefits. TAKE THE JOB A.S.A.P!

Sorry, but Capwest is correct. Ive worked for SafewayVons for 10 yrs and no way would they hire a 14 yr old as a cashier. At minimum, they have to be 18 yrs old.

You would be a courtesy clerk, as mentioned. Safeway does have a customer service policy, a seriously anal one, that you have to follow. Each store gets shopped by different mystery shoppers in order to be sure the employees maintain that customer service policy. And dont forget the Union and the dues you will be forced to pay.
