I have a person's name but it's gender neutral.

Depending on the size of the company you can call or have someone call to ask. If it is a small company it may be more difficult for you to call and ask. I have actually used just the person's name such as Dear Chris Smith: I hope this helps and wish you all the best in getting the job. Good luck

Call the office and ask if it's a man or woman. If you really don't wanna call, just write Dear Mr./Ms. LASTNAME. Never write: "Dear Gentlepersons" (looks silly).

You are in the dark under this circumstance. But, get it straight: so long as you do not know, you can just say DEAR SIR and continue with the body of the letter. You should not be bothered by the gender in this case because names can be deceptive as follows: A country was expecting a government official from a foreign country and by the name they received, they deemed the person a female. The person arrived and was a MAN. So, you see, it does not really matter. All the best.
