What does it mean if you applied for a job had an interview and wasn't called to be hired but three weeks?

Later the job is back in the paper? Should I bother trying to apply again? Did their first choice get hired and not work out? What to do? I would hate to be thrown to the side yet again.

You didn;t suck, they just may have found someone more qualified. DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF! OK!

Most companies will keep applications on file anywhere from 90 days to 6 months. You can reapply if you wish, but if you've already had an interview it's a sign you weren't the type of candidate they were looking for.

If you already interviewed for the position, then the company decided that you were not the person they want; don't bother to reapply, but look elsewhere

Why don't u just call whoever is re offering the job and ask what you need to do or the quals u need to have? Sometimes, an honest, direct approach is best; saves time.

Did you follow up with an email thank you note or a phone call after the interview? If you did not, this is the time (yes, even though it is 3 weeks later) to send a thank you again note and that you are interested in the position and would like to join their team and tell them very quickly in the note why you will ba an asset to the team. If you did write a thank you note then write another followup note saying you are still available and very interested in joining the team and why. See, it is the persistent people that get the job. It is the ones that sent an email, make a phone call, write a thank you note and drop it at the receptionist office - they get hired. No, it is never too late.

Well you seem like you have low self esteem and I am sure they didn't hire you because they thought you were too negative.

Hey you said it : you suck...then you do.

Nope, don't re-apply. If you want, you can ask why you weren't chosen for the position via a polite email. But, you may not get an answer, or you may get an answer that just says you weren't what they were looking for (in a very vague fashion.) It's a pain in the butt that more companies aren't doing notifications that you haven't gotten the job like they used to do, but in a lot of cases it is just because of the sheer number of applicants. (And if they do it for one person, they should do it for everyone who applied.) There's still a very remote possibility that you will get the job if no one viable emerges from this second posting since they haven't told you otherwise yet...but like I said - very remote.

Did you meet all their qualifications? Looking back on the interview, was there a question where they didn't seem pleased with the answer? Did you dress appropriately and follow-up with a thank you note or email? Do you know if they checked your references yet? These are all reasons to be set aside.

It might also just be a personality thing - something you said or did might have reminded them of a past employee that didn't work out. I've seen this happen plenty of times and we've said "nope, we'll pass on that one because he reminds me of Ms.___ and she couldn't work with Mr. ___ because he likes people who are more (fill in the blank here)."

If you still have the contact information of the person you interviewed with and sent a thank you note to then I would contact them saying something like the following. "I noticed the job I applied for a few weeks ago was posted again. Did the other person you hired not work out or is this another similar position? I'd like your honest opinion should I resend my resume for the position or can we schedule an interview based on my old resume?" I hope this helps and wish you all the best. You don't suck they just haven't gotten to know how good you are. Good luck

Usually they had found a person that is qualified or perhaps they had not made their decision as of yet. But you should follow up with a call in regards to the position. Always make a point not to feel bad if you did not get the job, that is fuel for motivation that you had an interview and always keep your job search going.

Never hinge yourself on one job posting, the more places you send the better your chances.
