WHY IS MY BACKGROUND CHECK TAKING SO LONG?

I went through a 3 interview process at Meijer, and i was accepted for the job as a cashier.. after my 3rd interview it is standard procedure for me to give them certain information so that they can get a background check. I cant start until the background check gets back to them, and there is friggin nothing in my background im 18 almost 19, i mean.... i really cant imagine there being a ton in a background check about me! its been nearly 3 weeks and i need money i need to start working!! im so anxious... but my question is, is this normal??? is 3 weeks a normal amount of time to be waiting for a background check??! they were very clear with me at the beginning, they said that a background check can take a couple weeks to come back to them, and they told me not to worry and they told me that i shouldn't think that im "out of the loop"...but ugh i need to start working and idc what they said, even if its normal for it to take a while, is it normal for it to take 3 weeks!? ughhh

anybody know?

With this job market today, background checks are being looked for any record especially with credit, work history, personality. I am sure that you are not the only person that is going through as well with others who applied.

Since you have nothing to worry about, the best thing is to keep calm and confident you have nothing to hide.
