Skirts and boots for office wear?

Category: Administrative & Office Support

Is it acceptable to wear a knee length skirt with boots for work in an office? In fall/winter, I usually wear dark khakis or dress pants, but I've been wearing skirts this spring. I'm thinking about how to wear them year round? I know they look best with heals, but in Ohio winters, that isn't practical. I need something with traction and that will keep me warm and dry. I'm getting some rayon charcoal pencil skirts while they're marked down, but would I have to wear heals? I think of Sarah Palin when I think boots and heels. Would this go in an office? We're fairly casual here (I wouldn't have these the long heels either).http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/vi¦

Knee length skirt with knee high boots can be appropriate for the most formal offices to the most casual offices.

Banks and financial firms on Wall Street in New York City are very strict on formal attire. Many women wear skirt suits with pencil skirts along with a pair of very dressy knee high boots with high heel.

Skirts can range from the formal suit skirt to a casual jean skirt.

Boots styles range from the very formal leather knee high boot with heel to the casual Ugg boot.

If you choose the right skirt, boot combination, you can wear it for a formal or casual office. It is all about the type of boot or skirt you choose.

You will probably be OK if it's a casual office. (It wouldn't fly in a formal office, obviously.)

Try wearing tights (they don't have to be boring--some patterned or textured ones would be fun) or wearing skirts with hems that fall below the top of the boot. Both of those options will cover you up just a little in the fall/winter and make it look a little more polished. Also, when the time comes, you might want to invest in a more structured skirt with a heavier weight, like wool. Rayon usually isn't that warm, is it?

If you're in the office, your skirts generally should be just at or below the knee anyway, no matter if you're wearing heels or boots.

I switched jobs this year, and now I work at a much more casual place, so I'll probably try the same thing this winter. Good luck!

Yes not all skirts need heels. I've seen some women look very well dressed in the office with skirt and flats. What you could do is have some flats available in the office to switch into when the weather is bad. You can easily pull off boot and a skirt too as long as they aren't rubber boots with little frogs on them :-). I wouldn't be worried as long as you are comfortable and it meets with normal company policy. I hope this helps and wish you the best next cold Ohio winter. Good luck

It is very acceptable and a common sight during the fall and winter season to see a woman wearing a skirt and knee boots to work. A nice knee length skirt paired with some leather knee high boots with about a 3" heel or so will look very sexy and sophisticated for work attire. If your worried about looking like a hooker just because your wearing knee boots, don't. Because its all about how you wear them, if your wearing a mini skirt with fishnets and pointy toed boots with sky high stiletto heels, then yes that would look trashy. Other than that knee boots look very classy when your dressed up.
