Hi i work at Wegmans as a part time service desk employee so i can probably help you out with this question. We do have a lengthy process when it comes to application, usually takes around 5 weeks just to get a call back from a recruiter. If after 5 weeks you do not receive any type of reply either by phone or email i would call the store that you applied for or visit customer service asking for a follow up through HR. We have updated our website which includes our application process, from what i know it now tells you your application status when you log in. Generally it's common rule to call back and let the potential employee know whether or not he doesn't meet what we're looking for but i have heard if you have a ridiculous availability they will not even look at your application for employment.

I would suggest you call back in a week and in the meanwhile apply to more places. Never hinge yourself on one job you applied to.

My initial call to check would be simple. Do not call every day but ask if they know when they will be reviewing resume/application, and if it would be ok to call back then to follow up with it. Calling everyday may indicate that you're "really" desperate for that job. Try in a few days or a week to show that you're interested, but please do NOT call each day as this may be shown as a bit pushy. Hopefully this will help you and good luck!

Hi professionally I'd call every 48 hours or so to see if they have had a chance to look at it. HOWEVER your best bet is to simply send a thank you card once you get accepted for an interview and have met with them.

I wouldn't call every DAY as that can make you appear a bit desperate--even if you are--you don't want them to hire you b/c you are desperate--you want them to hire you b/c you are good and decent and reliable.

Desperate people tend to not stay at the job once they are hired--they are always looking for the "next best thing" I'd keep that in mind when you call and keep it light and friendly.
