Should I contact them?

I work at a school and I applied for a job in another department. The window for the acceptance of applications has been closed for six weeks now and I haven't heard anything. I know they got my application because I did get a confirmation letter from them right at the close of the acceptance window but I've heard nothing else. I know someone who works in that department and asked her about the job a few weeks ago and she said that she knew the people on the search committee have been so swamped that they haven't even begun to look throught the applications/resumes, so basically the process hasn't even moved any further beyond the acceptance of applications even though it's been six weeks! Should I send a letter to the search committee letting them know I am still interested or should I just wait it out? thanks.

I would send a letter to them asking for clarification on the time line for their selection process. You also wanted to know if there was anything else you could provide them to assist them in their selection. Tell them you are still very interested in the position and look forward to interviewing with them so you can show them how well you fit the position. I hope this helps and wish you the best.
