Question about waiting for employer to make a decision?

This company I interviewed with said it would be 2 to 3 weeks before I heard back for the position. Today it has been 2 weeks, so I called and HR said that they are still interviewing other candidates so she does not expect to know more until sometime in May.

This is even longer than the original 2-3 week time frame. She said I will probably know the answer via email. If they are interviewing with other candidates then they must not have decided I am the right person for the job. Right?

I really want this position but so do a ton of other people I am sure. I need to work and can't find a good company like this one anywhere!

Really not sure what the question is here, but they probably had a number of applicants and they are interviewing all of them or at least a good portion of them and the process is taking longer than expected due to either sheer numbers or the person doing the interviewing also has other work to perform. This doesn't mean that you are not the right candidate, just that there are a lot of people with the right qualifications and in this economy, the company can afford to be methodical about choosing the person they want to hire.
