Can you make any recommendations regarding my cover letter?
Dear Hiring Partner:
I recently relocated to the Spokane area and am looking for full time employment. I would like to get back into intellectual property and Timberline sounds like the perfect opportunity. You will see from my resume, copy enclosed, that I have ten years experience in IP. Also enclosed are two letters of recommendation, a memorandum of commendation, and a copy of my office skills test results for the Spokane Public Schools. Confidentiality is of the utmost concern to me and I always use a high level of discretion when dealing with highly sensitive information. I am respectful, courteous, friendly and a team player. I also take the initiative to meet work objectives.
Timberline would benefit from my proficiency with Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. While at Volpe and Koenig, P.C. I instructed coworkers in the use of Word Perfect until we switched to Word. We also used Adobe Acrobat for PTO forms. I started at V&K as a floater secretary and I am very comfortable in that role. I have also worked with specific attorneys for long periods of time and am also comfortable in that role. I can work with Microsoft Excel and am willing to learn any new skills or software needed. While at the Piedmont Family YMCA I learned Access and Trinexum and proceeded to manage a database of over 5000 records. I am well versed in all office machines, including a Dictaphone.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my resume. I would like to bring my creativity and 15+ years of secretarial experience to the Timberline Patent Law Group PLLC. I welcome any opportunity to speak with you. Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
|

Try to shorten your paragraphs. Make them short but sweet. Also, find out the name of the "Hiring Partner" and address him/her personally. If you are responding to a job advertisement, use some of the keywords that were used in the ad - this way you'd be a perfect fit for what they need. |
