Can i get a job back at somehwere ive been sacked?

I know it sounds like a stupid question. i got dismissed from somehwere after several meetings regaridng the matter back in dec 2008 and am wondering if its poss to get a job back there? i shud never have been sacked in the 1st place, its a long story, it wasnt for stealing or anything like that, just being in the resturant past opening time even though we have loscked up and were just sitting talking, it should fall the responsibilty of the supervisor but after challenging it twice i was unsuccessful but despite all that.

is it possible to ever get a job bak if you have been dismissed from the company for whatever the reason? thanks

It really depends on the company policies. Often people are dismissed for things like not being available for enough hours, or not being physically able then they are hired back when circumstances change, so it is entirely possible. In your circumstances it is really dependant on the details of both the company policy and even the personal opinion of your manager or HR person.

Most larger companies classify your discharge to indicate if rehire would be considered. If it is a corperate company you could contact human resources to find our it you are eligable for rehire. If it is a small company you can contact the boss and ask the same question. The worst that could happen is that they say no... good luck!

Sure you might get your job back, but if they fired you for something really petty, it may be your company is wanting reduce the work force It might not hurt to be looking for another job.

This is America The boss can fire you for any reason or no reason at all. , .

If they fired you, why would they hire you back?? that rarely ever happens

there is no general rule - you will have to go re-apply and see what happens -every company is going to have different policies and procedures

There are a lot of variables to this that haven't been addressed. When you were let go were you classified as rehireable? Is the same manager that let you go still working there? Is the company under the same ownership. If you are rehireable than by all means go for it. But as a payroll specialist I can tell you I have never heard of anyone who has been fired getting a job back at the same company.

If you were dismissed and the reasons were not bad, therefore you should apply. However I think it is best that you move on another job and start a new chapter. Remember, those things that had happen in the past with your old job can come to haunt you.
