Well, ive been working at my new job for around 2months now, its a call centre job and i get along with most people there, but today a guy started to call me things like (geek e.t.c) then started to throw things at me while i was on the phone with a customer.

Im wondering what to do about the situation, id love to get up and smack him around the head with my phone, but id probably loose my job and hes not worth that, should i go to my supervisor and tell her i want to file a complaint against him?

Im thinking its assault if he was throwing bits of blue tac at me that were hitting me in the face and just missing my eyes ( i wear glasses )

He is already on a disciplinary for swearing at a customer.

I would hate to get somebody sacked from their job but i dont really want to keep working there if hes there, i enjoy work but not when im being abused by another member of staff.

Also, do you think id beable to take paid leave while my manager sorts the situation out, i feel intimidated working there while he does.

I do agree with the previous poster response to your question. A letter to his attention about his actions would get him straight, but also get him to sign it and give him the copy and you keep the original.

Also, record any of his insults to you in writing. Your written words are much more of a defense to his verbiage when he faces his superiors.

If his actions do not heed, then you need to take this to HR. As you stated he's already in disciplinary action for his behavior, that should give him a wake up call that is grounds for termination.

Although you do not want to be a person to get a person fired from their job, which I applaud you, but irresponsibility towards co-workers and customers are not allowed.

As far as pay leave, you are not allowed that unless it is more of a stressful situation.

I would draft an e-mail to him letting him know that while he thinks his behavior is humorous, you do not find it funny and would appreciate him to stop behaviors, such as (list behavior). This way it's in writing, he knows you are serious and you have not let a supervisor know yet. Which may maintain some sort of friendly relationship in the event he is just immature and doesn't know better. If the behavior continues, then you can forward the e-mail to a supervisor and file a complaint. I find putting things in writing always helps!

Yes that is bullying and he assaulted you by throwing something at you. Report this don't let it go it will get worse. Nobody is allowed to throw things at someone on a job.

This is totally unacceptable behavior! Talk to your manager about it! Don't be afraid. You have a right to work in a comfortable environment! Good luck!
