Support Engineer

Description: - Work with SkyStream customers, solutions partners, development engineers, and other third-party digital video and data networking equipment and software suppliers to ensure the inter-operability of SkyStream products and those of its selected partners in customer specified configurations.
- This job will involve travel, both domestic and international, sometimes on fairly short notice.
- Perform post sales engineering, field service, and establish test methodologies and procedures to ensure SkyStream products' adherence to applicable standards and performance specifications.
- Create technical documents and application/solution notes for SkyStream and partner product.
- Provide on-site network consulting to SkyStream customers and solutions partners as necessary.
- Plan and execute end-to-end solutions testing of SkyStream's products.
- This job will involve travel, both domestic and international, sometimes on fairly short notice.
Qualifications: - BS applicable technical degree or equivalent - At least 5 years of Customer support/applications engineering/network design consulting in three or more of the following technology areas: - Digital video compression systems - Conditional Access systems - Data networking and data communications, including large scale campus and wide area IP networks, remote access and internet access systems - Telecommunications, including large scale voice and/or video networking systems including STM-1 OC3, SONET, SDH and DSL - Software application support - Possess excellent knowledge of applicable data networking and/or digital video protocols and standards, such as, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DVB, ATSC, ATVEF, TCP/IP, Routing protocols, SNMP, and ATM. - Proven ability to design, analyze and trouble-shoot large scale data networks and digital video compression delivery systems - Hands-on experience with the use of data networking and/or digital video systems from leading suppliers - Excellent written and oral communications and proven ability to serve as a knowledgeable representative of SkyStream and its products to customers and partners.
- Second Language skills an advantage.
