Sr. Program Manager
Position Overview: Provide the on-site and autonomous support of a GSM Program / Project Manager, focusing on the UMTS roll-out in the NY/NJ area ·Plan, direct, document, and execute project management activities ·Manage multiple cross-functional projects or groups with moderate to high risk and moderate to high business impact, simultaneously.
Employ performance, cost tracking, and other metrics to assess and report progress.
·Responsible for planning and directing schedules.
Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule.
Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.
Establish and maintain a strong business relationship among customers.
·May allocate or assist in the allocation of appropriate resources to deliver project results.
·May proactively ensure assigned projects stay within authorized budget/schedule.
May assess health of project and escalate to return to original schedule.
·Demonstrate problem solving and leadership skills.
Manage conflict and negotiate commitments to achieve the end goal.
·Demonstrate/gain understanding of Tellabs’ and the customer’s internal organization, processes and systems as required by the role Qualifications: ·Minimum 3 years GSM engineering experience ·Direct experience in 1 or more of the following areas: BSS, NSS, RF, Transport, Network Design, Data Services (ATM/IP), Program/Project Management ·Experience working with various engineering groups to accomplish common project goals and objectives ·Strong understanding of GSM architecture for standard call routing
2. 5 and 3G data services ·Understanding of network infrastructure topology including SONET infrastructure and network interconnect between the LEC and wireless carriers.
Bachelor's /Master's Degree with 3-5 years project management experience and 5-7 years business experience.
Prefer certified project management designation.
