UNIX Server Administrator
Description: Serves as an UNIX System Administrator on the Unix Server Administration Team, providing UNIX system administration, maintenance, and customer support to customer.
Perform responsibilities of a UNIX Systems Administrator for high visibility national system comprised of multiple servers on several networks at local and remote locations.
Duties include (but are not limited to): Administer stand-alone and network installation, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management; Responsible for resolving a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems, and monitoring and addressing Service Center trouble tickets as required; Provide 24x7 on-call support to mission critical systems and user support and administration for 40 servers; Configure Solaris OS v2.
x to allow interaction between networks (100baseT, 10Base2, and Fiber Optic); Provide DNS, NIS, NIS + configuration.
Configure hardware and software for Ultra servers, RAIDs, storage arrays, and library storage devices; Provide O&M functions such as hard drive removal, print server configuration, performance optimization, and research and installation of current patches, where applicable Install and support printers and storage peripherals; Monitor system usage; Manage group shares and home directories; Perform and maintain system Backup and Recovery Processes; Provide impact assessment for system-level changes on existing infrastructure; Participate in technical exchanges; Ensure compliance with computer security policy; Participate in daily outage coordination briefings; Provide on-call support; Provide weekly status reports to contract management.
Must be able and willing to travel to customer's DC Metro sites.

8. *Education: BS in CS, IS or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
*Functional: Minimum five years exp. as UNIX SA; Knowledge of TCP/IP, IT Security concepts and practices.
Prefer the following: *TS/SCI *Hardware: Clustered Server configuation and maintenance.
*Software: Solaris 9, Veritas Volume Manager and Net Backup, LDAP, Hitachi SAN, Veritas file systems.
*Functional: Strong written/verbal communication skills; Process documentation experience; Experience with customer facilities and systems.
