Strategic Inventory Planning Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for developing, assessing and defining financial reporting processes to support the Planning & Merchandising organization's objective to achieve Sales, Margin & Turn goals.
To provide an advanced level of analysis and statistics in an efficient and useful manner.
To coordinate system support between the user community and IT by utilizing technical and business analysis that encompasses implementation, training and ongoing use of new technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates and manages merchandising performance reports to efficiently provide data that results in actionable recommendations.
Evaluates steps and suggest methods to streamline weekly & monthly recap processes.
Acts as a strategic partner to planning team members by preparing ad-hoc analysis and generating other analytical reports as requested, and by summarizing the findings to offer appropriate actionable options.
Develops and manages procedures that will support standard and consistent reporting across the Planning & Merchandising organizations.
Continually reviews the reporting process and recommends opportunities to improve or automate reports where possible, while still satisfying the needs of the Planning & Merchandising organizations.
Structures global Commerce Divison data summaries to generate initial seasonal plan forecasts.
Impacts forecasting for annual revenue, monthly GM performance, and markdown allowances needed to support invenotry turn goals.
Ensures this data balances to the Finance division reporting and forecasting.
Evaluates aged inventory ownership to recommend future sell thru strategies, which will support current margin goals.
Becomes a systems expert to provide user support and maintain consistent use of applications (IP, E3, MMX, Essbase).
Uses this knowledge to lead the user community by recommending options and best practices for requesting and reporting data (Queries and hard coded reports.
Creates and maintains a reporting manual that can be utilized as both a ?how to? reference for current users, and as training material for new hires.
This needs to include step by step directives and examples of the systems and reports it quantifies.
Liases with IT to ensure that reports and resources are available as required.
Researches and diagnoses system data and software issues and partner with MIS to provide practical solutions.
Leads in the testing & implementation of new system applications, and assists with modifications of current processes and procedures.
Supports department by assuming projects and assignments as required.
REQUIREMENTS: 2-4 years planning experience in a multi-store environment Related Bachelors Degree or equivalent in training and experience Proficient computer skills.
Excel, Word, database query, AS400 based merchandising system Strong analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently as well as in a group Systems applications, including: AS400, Island Pacific, Essbase, MarketMax, SQL, DB2, and E3.
Project management and systems implementation experience helpful.
Merchandise buying and previous training experience preferred.
