Chevron is an Equal Opportunity Employer Chevron Pittsburg and Midway Coal Mining Company is accepting online applications for a Senior Lab Technician (0608-50163176) located in Berry, Alabama through September 15, 2006.

Collects, prepares and analyzes coal samples from the preparation plant, train loadout and other mine areas for the purposes of quality and process control.

Occasionally substitutes for a preparation plant supervisor on an as needed basis.

Apply Only at : Chevron QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: - Collects coal samples at specified locations in the coal preparation plant.

- Prepares samples for laboratory analysis.

- Performs moisture, ash, sulfur and BTU analyses on plant samples, unit-train samples, mine channel samples and other samples as needed.

- Checks and operates multi - stage automated sampling systems located on the unit- train loadout discharge, clean coal stacker belt, plant feed belt and refuse belt, to verify that all settings meet ASTM standards for type of coal and size of train being loaded.

- Calibrates and maintains lab equipment.

Orders materials and supplies for the lab. - Prepares daily and monthly lab reports.

- Assists with customer relations.

- Operates truck scale house.

- May provides work direction to other laboratory technicians.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

- Ability to perform calculations such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION: - Bachelor's degree applicable.

- Relocation benefits will not be considered.

- This is a safety sensitive Position.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to 12 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Laboratory procedure standards, sampling of materials flow streams experience and knowledge of coal processing operations preferred.

College or Technical School training in laboratory procedures preferred.

- Must have or be able to obtain Alabama Surface Mine Foreman Certification.
