SQL Server DBA Sr.
Description Job Summary and Mission This job contributes to Starbucks success by designing, implementing and maintaining application databases.
Participates in development projects and implement databases of revised or new systems.
Provides logical and physical database designs.
Analyzes, recommends and implements database requirements of application programming and all aspects of operations, including backup and recovery, data loading and purging, access, and data replication.
Provides second and third level production support.
Serves as a team member supporting SQL Serer environments.
Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: -Participates in the implementation of database architecture and strategies, and in the definition of standards for the database environment.
Assists in research, evaluation and selection of software to support database administration.
-Provides production support by developing database operations procedures, such as backup and recovery, to ensure database availability.
Monitors and recommends database application changes for optimal performance.
Provides third-level production operations problem-resolution support on a continuous on-call basis, to ensure data integrity and quick recovery of databases.
Installs database software products and resolves software problems.
-Serves as a team member on application development projects to advise on data-related issues and to represent the enterprise view of the database.
Collaborates with project lead and other administrators to transform logical data models into physical database designs.
Builds physical databases to support development projects.
Reviews, tests and evaluates the impact of changes to the database environment.
Qualifications Summary of Experience -Supporting Microsoft SQL Server databases 5 years -Working with data analysts and developers to transform logical data models into physical database designs 3 years -Experience tuning and recovering SQL Server databases -Experience working as an active member of a database administration team -Experience in SQL Server 2005 is highly desirable.
-Experience in supporting Oracle is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing -Strong attention to detail -Current knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server databases (2000/2005) -Knowledge of CASE modeling and design tools is preferred
