Patient Care Assistant (B262)
DEPARTMENT: Patient Care Services TCU SCHEDULE: Part-Time regular; 32 hours per week; day shift; scheduled days and hours vary; every other weekend EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATION
1. High School or equivalent and
2. CPR Certification and
3. CNA Certificate w/6 mos. acute care experience within the last two years, demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology , o
4. CNA Certificate with completion of an Acute Care CNA Program, demonstrated proficiency in medical terminology, or
5. Willingness to successfully complete an Unit Assistant course within 6 months of hire, o
6. A Second Year Nursing Student with one year clinical rotation.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates a service-oriented approach and an openness to creative and innovative approaches to providing service characterized by culturally sensitive, polite communication with patients, staff members, and visitors is required.
Candidates must demonstrate effective communication with co-workers, physicians, and patients as well as demonstrate courtesy through respectful and polite communication.
Candidate must be willing to work in a labor/management partnership environment.
Demonstrated excellent written communication skills in the English language.
Evidence of good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be able to work and respond to a rapidly changing environment with team members, patients, and families.
Ability to compute figures accurately.
Ability to learn basic data entry functions.
Must be willing to float to all hospital units.
SKILLS TESTING: N/A DUTIES: Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or their designee (RN): Transfer patients within the Medical Center, assess vital signs, distribute patient trays, bathe and turn patients, monitor and record intake and output, document care given.
Report patient care activities to RN. May assist with everyday management and coordination of nursing unit, transcribe physician orders, make necessary appointments, assist with transfers, discharges, and admissions.
Responsible for general cleanliness of unit and equipment.
Perform other related duties as required.
