Mortgage Loan Processor: SmartBank
Position Summary: Enters residential loan data into SmartBanks computer system with appropriate updating, and assembles and verifies loan documents for accuracy.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Adheres to and embraces the SmartBank Way by Acting Smart, Looking Smart and Being Smart.
Actively participates in department SmartMinute meetings.
2. Provides administrative assistance to the residential loan originator and staff, including updating loan data for entry into the financial institutions computers and assembling documentation for residential loans.
3. Ensures that residential loan files contain documents with proper signatures, dates and other relevant data.
4. Assembles and verifies accuracy of residential loan documentation.
5. Checks documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, closing dates and signatures.
6. Maintains new residential loan files.
Performs a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.
Uses office computers for data input and other activities and orders credit reports.
7. Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning loan processing and information.
8. Cross-markets financial institution residential loan products and services as appropriate.
9. Types and mails approval and denial letters to applicants.
10. Assists other departments on a temporary basis as needed during peak hours.
Position Requirements and Qualifications: Education
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): None Knowledge Requirements
1. Excellent customer service skills.
2. Two years of recent experience in mortgage loan processing and documentation, preferred.
3. Ability to cross-sell banking products and services.
4. Ability to apply knowledge and sound judgment in decision-making using established guidelines.
5. Proficient level of computer competency including Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook), typing and ten-key proficient.
6. Strong written and oral communication skills.
7. Detail orientated, good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Work Conditions
1. Able to routinely stand, sit, bend and stoop.
2. Frequently and regularly required movements using wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
3. Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare inspect documents or products and operate machinery.
4. Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
5. May be required to travel to various branch locations.
