Software Engineer – Onsite Technical Consultant Trade and Risk Management is part of the Enterprise Business Division within Reuters, a fast-growing business unit with over $160 million in annual revenue.

We now have open positions for talented, ambitious software engineers to participate in the development and rollout of our next generation technology for the capital markets.

JOB DESCRIPTION Our software engineers in NY specialize in the conception, development and on-site implementation of our business solutions for customers, which are typically top-tier banks and cutting-edge hedge funds.

The position involves exposure to a wide spectrum of skills including knowledge of finance, software design skills, and project management.

Our team members work closely with customers, both end-users and IT architects, on on-site engagements typically lasting several months.

Though most engagements are in the metropolitan NY area, the position may require multi-month travel to other locations where clients are based.

The position is perfect for ambitious, high-energy, high-bandwidth software engineers who want to accelerate their careers through immersion into multiple environments providing rich exposure to technology challenges in the capital markets.

You should be a proficient java developer who has experience with all phases of the software lifecycle (functional specification, design, implementation, unit test, user test, maintenance).

You will be expected to be able to respond and address customer, product management and support requests and provide effective bug fixing solutions.

The work will involve a major integration of Kondor + trading instruments into the JRisk J2EE architecture to form Kondor

4. 0, the next generation Reuters Trade and Risk Management product.

You will start by spending 4-6 months in London or Palo Alto for training in order to become a technical expert in the Kondor JRisk architecture and functional areas of the Kondor JRisk product.

This will be accomplished via training programme, self-study and working on projects within development teams.

When a suitable consultancy project is available in your region, you will work at customer site, installing and enhancing Kondor

4. 0 to meet the customer’s specific needs.

You will use your product expertise and finance industry knowledge to advise the customer on the design and implementation of the installation.

You will use your judgement to decide whether customised enhancements should to be done onsite, or coordinated with the Kondor/JRisk development team for them to deliver the work in a suitable timeframe.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS · 2+ years Software Development experience in Java; thorough understanding of large scale OO design and patterns, J2EE, XML, SQL essential · Skills in perl, C++, RDBMS, distributed systems highly desirable · Skills in Linux, Unix, .

NET, web services, Citrix, message-oriented middleware (JMS, Tibco Rendezvous) useful · Previous proven consultancy experience preferred; good understanding of market practices and financial pricing for interest rate, money-market, equity, credit derivatives and FX is helpful · Prior experience in a customer facing role with desire to solve customer problems is preferred · Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the latest technology industry advances · BSc or M.Sc. from top-tier University: Computer Science, Maths, Physics · Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
