The Program Manager (PM) leads the research, product development, launch, implementation and execution of assigned events and/or markets.

Working with a portfolio of existing events, the Program Manager leads the project team (registrar/customer service, sales, marketing, operations/meeting planning, administrative) to see that all aspects of the event run smoothly and in conjunction with the assigned revenue/profit budget and project schedule.

In addition, program manager is tasked with identifying new event opportunities and through an extensive research and validation process, these new programs are proposed for inclusion in the divisional portfolio.

By consuming information on the core and related markets and subsequently reaching out to key industry contacts the PM develops and expands an advisory network.

This network, combined with market research, form the basis for event topics and themes.

They are also the lead source in the identification of potential speakers, keynotes and panelists.

Once the topic is identified, validation as to commercial viability, the overall opportunity is undertaken.

Once an event has been launched it is the program managers responsibly to build the event content, including identifying subject mater, identifying and securing speakers/keynotes and panelists, leading the overall event project management and ensuring that the event is executed on schedule and on budget.

In addition the program manager is the leader in running the event onsite for their events.

Successful PMs demonstrate a competence in effective project management and are collaborative, committed team players.

They work with the team members to see that key activities and dates are met. The PM works in concert with each of the functional areas to include the following Marketing -confirm attendee pricing, offer dates to include a competitive scan -marketing copy -targeting of delegates -optimal marketing plan to touch all relevant targets Operations -initiate RFP -assist in site selection that will optimize event -confirm speaker hand-off and follow-up process -review operational aspects so that the event runs according to the vision Ultimate success of a PM is measured on the financial results of the assigned events.

An understanding of the budget and investment decisions/impact is essential.

At the annual budget period, the PM is tasked with developing their own revenue and expense budgets and needs to be able to rationalize them with division leadership.

The PM may also be asked to present, to Company leadership.

Responsibilities

Copy writing and proof reading
Mark eting research and sponsorship lead generation
Execute and complete projects on time and on budget
Onsite management of events
Some conference administration
Relationship management with speakers and delegates
Liaising with other departments and external meetings €€ Skills Required
