Staff Accountant (BA)
Position Type: Full Time Position Accountability: - Responsible for various aspects of general/job cost accounting and financial reporting related to the Homebuilding Accounting function.
- This position handles moderately complex accounting activities requiring independent judgment on accounting treatment and reports to the Accounting Manager of Homebuilding.
Objectives: A.
Develop, perform and maintain several aspects of accounting and reporting in accordance with GAAP, SOX, and parent company accounting & finance policies and procedures.
B.
Provide financial reports and information for internal management accurately & timely.
C.
Assist in ongoing research, analysis, and tracking of all Homebuilding accounts.
Position Responsibilities: -Prepare journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations along with supporting schedules.
-Prepare & distribute monthly financial reports to internal management.
-Bring inconsistencies to the attention of management.
-Suggest ways to improve processes and internal controls.
-Research items identified by the Accounting Manager of Homebuilding.
-Provide support in the preparation of the annual & quarterly budget plans and internal & external audits as needed.
-Assist in tracking inventory of model home furnishings.
-Calculate and prepare Sales commissions and bonuses.
-Track model closings and leasebacks.
-Update and assist in monitoring/maintaining Pricing Proformas for Accounting department.
-Create and maintain a variety of Excel spreadsheets.
-Assist accounting personnel in periodic trouble-shooting tasks.
-Develop and maintain intra-departmental communications with, but not limited to, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, and Production departments.
-Data entry as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Requirements: A.
Educatio
1. Four year degree in Accounting or 4 year degree with equivalent Accounting coursework.
B.Job Skill
1. Strong accounting and analytical skills with an attention toward details.
2. Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Windows.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong teaming skills and high level of integrity.
5. Ability to provide high quality work and meet timely deadlines.
6. Ability to handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
7. Strong work ethic.
C.
Experienc
1. 2-5 years experience at accountant level (homebuilding/job cost experience preferred).
2. Prior experience in general ledger and budget maintenance.
