Plant Controller
Reports directly to the Plant Manager (functionally to the US PSD Asst.
Controller) and serves on the Plant Leadership Team.
Maintains a general and cost accounting system in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and BD policies and guidelines.
Ensures adequate internal controls are maintained in order to properly control the assets within the Columbus BDPS Plant.
Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing of all activities of the accounting department and provides coaching, guidance and supports development planning for accounting staff.
Maintains complete financial control of the plant by providing management with accurate and timely reports concerning plant operations and in designing and installing systems and procedures.
Assists and advises Plant Manager on financial matters pertinent to operations.
RESPONSIBILITY .
Scope of Responsibility: ·Strategic Impact - This position represents finance on the ESC of the plant.
Leading and driving efforts to identify value stream map opportunities.
Supports CI plans through financial analysis of potential projects.
Support blitz and black belt projects by keeping teams focused on driving change with tangible, measurable and sustainable financial gains.
Develop a strong financial forecast process by training and supporting plant personnel to be more accountable to their budgets.
Tracking and reporting CI programs that have been completed (track class 1, 2 and 3 cost reductions).
·Accountability -This position is accountable for working with the plant associates to ensure proper financial internal controls exist to ensure accurate reporting and protection of plant assets.
Responsible for the reporting and presentation of the plants financial results to the Plant and US PSD LTs. Responsible for performing appropriate analysis to highlight problem areas, opportunities and recommendations to ensure plant goals are met. Ensures the blocked stock and invoice reports are resolved in a timely manner and reviews and analyzes capital appropriations for financial returns.
Providing monthly manufacturing matrix reports and ensuring the accuracy of the plant standard costs.
·Sphere of Influence (liaison) - Works with all functions within the business, both within and outside of the Plant.
Including US Asst Controller, WW Controller WW Operations Team, Medical Segment and Corporate in all areas of planning including semi-annual SOF process, annual budget planning and quarterly projections for a designated BD "Large" facility.
·Required Skills and Knowledge - Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
MBA preferred.
Minimum of ten years experience in Accounting in a manufacturing environment.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP with at least three years of supervisory experience.
Effective communication (technical writing and presentation) skills.
Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively throughout the organization.
In depth knowledge of SAP, ERP system is required.
·Technical Area of Expertise - Accounting/IT - SAP and analytical skills.
Coordinates the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts for the plant.
